What are the best fonts for a print book? And should I choose a font before I submit my book for editing?

Manuscript editing primarily takes place in a Microsoft Word document, so it is not necessary to choose fonts for your book at this point in the publishing process. Fonts are selected when the interior pages are designed and the book goes to layout. At this point, you’ll be asked what fonts you prefer for body text, chapter openings, and so forth. You’ll review and approve interior-page design samples as part of the process, so there shouldn’t be any surprises when the final interior of your book is complete. There are thousands of serif or sans serif fonts that can be used for different elements of your interior layout. It’s important that the body text is easy to read, so choose wisely. At Bublish, we like to finalize the front cover design so that the interior fonts and design complement the cover.
