Why does my print interior file have blank pages?

Best publishing practices require that certain pages of a book's front and back matter (title page, copyright page, dedication, foreword, acknowledgments, author bio, etc.) start on a right page. This sometimes requires a left page to remain blank. In the body of a book, blank pages are only introduced at the author's request—for instance, if the author wants all chapters to start on a right-hand page.
